Cobra Replica Montage ...

This page demonstrates how the Photoshop colours assignment taught us to mask the paint areas of a motorcar body, in my case a Pegasus Performance Cobra replica, and then produce a range of interchangeable, different colour car bodies, whilst retaining the reflections, sheens and shadings of the original car body. We had to accomplish this without affecting anything else in the photograph, just like a real paint job in the body shop.

Everyone seemed to be impressed by this Cobra replica montage. We had previously learned about some of the different image masking techniques that were available to us in Photoshop and this assignment built on this knowledge by requiring us to mask different areas of the image (in this case the blue paint areas of the car body and not forgetting the blue reflection in the back of the drivers mirror) and to then colourize the masked areas in different ways. You can see the results on the montage below and you should remember that it is not just a question of applying a different paint colour. This assignment received the maximum grade.

General Notes ...

Tab-1: The background, borders and font have been changed to enable the montage to match the style and presentation of other similar graphics on the site. Apart from that the pictures of the Cobra replica are exactly as I submitted them for the assignment.
Tab-2: This montage was not part of the assignment but I thought that having seen the final montage you might find it interesting to see the Photoshop layers displayed.
